On the Value of Your Time...

Source: imgfave.com via Lauren on Pinterest

I shared some kind of related thoughts on Nineteen Months this week - okay... it's a stretch - but I trust your nimble minds. Anyhow, I'm getting ready to leave what has been my home, particularly in clichéd definitions of 'home', for the last four years. And I'm mostly prepared to be embarking on new adventures... but if I wax never-ending about my fragile, can't I just stay in never-never-land forever (forever-ever?) then I'm sorry.

I'll at least try to be hilarious?

But seriously... you all should check out Nineteen Months. It's like a bunch of really diverse, cool and insightful people getting together to share their thoughts on contemporary issues colored with a spiritual lens. Okay... that's exactly what it is. And they let me play, too.

GPOYW...

As evidenced by the time stamp, this is excerpted from my field trip to Jerusalem last week. I'm a little under the weather... so I thought it'd be nice to share a picture where I was feeling on point.

I've got a game this weekend, y'all! I need to (ahem) get back on my game!

In the meantime... postive thoughts and prayers of the 'good health' variety are always welcome.

Letting the Cat Out of the... Dog House

Forgotten Quotes: because sometimes lightening really does strike twice.

Brought to you by the minds behind the Doghouse Diaries.

Lost and Found...

I love this blog SO much: it always makes me smile. The author, Sophie Blackall, is such a talented illustrator. Support the artist!

This week's illustration was based on the following missed connection text/message in a bottle: Ack! 'Round 7pm or so... I was browsing the shelves and saw you on the other side. I swear I glimpsed our entire future together in that brief moment. It was beautiful. And then someone asked you for the time. I mean c'mon, who doesn't have a damn time-telling device of some sort these days! Oh, if only I'd thought of that.

Genius.

I'd also like to mention that I'm wearing polka dots today... and I frequent book shops and libraries. Holler at your girl.

Too soon?

Field Trip...

So I'm back from my staycation (they come highly recommended by yours truly) and - as promised - I have pictures from my field trip to Jerusalem. Specifically to the Botanical Gardens.
They also come highly recommended. You know, for the next time you're in Israel.
Look out - they bite!
Right... so it's a little soon to be making "undead" jokes - but how cool is nature?
Carnivorous plants!
Me.
I have a weird habit of making strange faces when I'm uncomfortable...
or tired of having my picture taken.
Which is uncomfortable. Annnnd I'm full circle!
My water polo coach, Iulian, and I.
In the Tropical Rain Forest Exhibit
Maestro.
Iulian teaching the roses how to grow.
Hibiscus.

This adventure was pretty awesome. I won't go so far as to say that I'm an expert now - but I can now identify some plants beyond flower, vegetable or tree.

And you know how I am about learning stuff!

Message From the Universe...

This post-it note in the 'Things We Forget' series came at maybe the perfect time. I am getting ready to start a new chapter in my life and I'm a little (okay a lot) nervous about what that entails.

Images of the first day of kindergarten come to mind....

In other news, Bon Iver has a new single out - Calgary - and is offering a free download here. Um... don't miss your chance?

Fashion Sense... of Humor

Ever the globe trotter, Scott Schumann is in Western Europe at the moment - as evidenced by this awesome shot from Amsterdam.

Apparently, a local football team (that's soccer, for the Americans in the house) had just won an important game and so the streets were alive and (literally) hopping.

I don't know what I love more: the obvious enthusiasm from these guys, juxtaposed with the "fashion subject's" droll expression - or the fact that Mr. Schumann just went with it.

...In Action

I'm happy to report that I'm midway through what I've fondly taken to calling my 'staycation'. Presented with the opportunity, I took 2 weeks off to rest and relax. The most exciting part is that I'm going to be doing some sight-seeing in Israel... like the botanical gardens in Jerusalem!

In the meantime, I'm going to be a little undercover, a la everyone's favorite Audrey Hepburn. Ciao!

Did everyone get the memo? Okay... good.

Paint the Fence...

Excerpted from The Karate Kid

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mom for teaching me everything she knows. Like how to be a bad-ass.

Proof of said bad-assery (yes. it's a word.) may include, though not be limited to, my strong desire to always follow the rules, my sweet dance moves, and my intensely competitive nature.

Dance battle, anyone?

High Five...!

I know it's been a while since I've waxed ecstatic about high fives, but this might be the best illustration of 'spontaneous high five' ever. Or: what happens when your heart sings - out loud.

I think I love most that the little boy was sincerely trying to figure out where he stood with this girl... so sweet!

Also...? Glad these kids have more game than I do. Not so sure their parents are, though!

Sharing is Caring...

So my friend Haley recently introduced me to this new (to me?) thing called Pinterest. Have you guys tried it before?

You may be curious to know that I love pretty things. And interesting things... and that I'm kind of a hoarder of these pretty, interesting - and pretty interesting things. Particularly images. I have literally used all of the space on several flash drives (I know, I need to woman up and get a proper external hard drive) as well as most of the available space on a few computers [ahem].

Basically this serves as a really rad cloud-type space or an inspiration board for images that you find on the world wide interwebs. Saves them and categorizes them - and they're so easy to find! All at the click of a button! Swoon! I feel so organized right now!

Oh... and yes. You may have guessed that I have a board dedicated to men I think are amazing. ...inspiration board, right?!

Gimme A Beat...!

This is probably my new favorite Beyonce video... so amazing! And I love (l.o.v.e!) that it was inspired by Mrs. Obama's campaign against childhood obesity. You can read the full article here in the NYT. ...head's up courtesy Mrs. O.

In other news... some friends and I went to Turkey this weekend; to a tiny little sleepy beach front village called Kemer in the state (province?) of Antalya. I'm afraid that what happened in Turkey will largely have to stay in Turkey... because I didn't take any pictures save one. I know... typical!

The girls and I did go dancing one night though - for, like, all of 10 minutes. Sigh. I think, nay - I know! - that had the DJ been playing music like this I could have danced all night a la Eliza Doolittle. Alas.

Anyhow... sorry I was off the face - for those of you who check in upon occasion. Oh! Hey Mom!
