But First!

My brother Bill is coming to Haifa to visit me! I'm really excited! I'll probably see more of Israel while he's here than I have already seen in the 10 months (!) I've been here. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted.
So yeah, besides a recent obsession with RISK in all its myriad forms and my continued (although relatively new) love of photography and cooking, this is what's new in aimee piper land. Unless you count the more serious things in life - like the recent arrest of six Bahá'í leaders in Iran. But I'll have more to say about that, soon.

Let the Countdown Begin!

I'm coming home for my sister Merilee's wedding and to visit friends and family!
For those of you in Israel with me, I'll be taking pictures
but here are some of the places I'll be going:

The 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo
*I actually miss driving!*
San Clemente: T-Street as seen from the Pier
*Where I spent much of my childhood*

The San Clemente Pier: South Side

Sunset just north of the Pier

Mission San Juan Capistrano: The Jewel of the CA Missions

*The California Missions are actually really cool - you should check them out if you're ever in California. Much more interesting than a theme park. Wait, did I say that out loud?*

Take It In Stride

"Even as the clouds let us shed down tears, and as the lightning flashes let us laugh at our coursings through east and west. By day, by night, let us think but of spreading the sweet savours of God. Let us not keep on forever with our fancies and illusions, with our analysing and interpreting and circulating of complex dubieties. Let us put aside all thoughts of self; let us close our eyes to all on earth, let us neither make known our sufferings nor complain of our wrongs. Rather let us become oblivious of our own selves, and drinking down the wine of heavenly grace, let us cry out our joy, and lose ourselves in the beauty of the All-Glorious."
-Abdu’l-Bahá

This quote found me today. I hope you find it as useful in your meditations as it has already been in mine....

This Just In!

My klutz factor has reached a new level dear friends.... In fact, if I were a super hero and had a trading card, my klutz factor might be a 10 - just saying.
On my way back from our office kitchen with my morning tea & fruit (and having what are not inconsiderable hater thoughts about the jerk(s) who keeps finishing my milk and not getting new and the slob state non-office people leave our kitchen in – even though it was fairly clean this morning – but I had seen a roach that was too big for me to kill and that was the icing on my grumpy cake) I managed to literally trip up the stairs in the ITC. To quote my grandmother, I went ass over tea kettle (I don’t know where she got this….). In a dress, that is already (not so) slightly above my knee.
And lost a large part of my nail.
And most of my pride.
But Zikra and one of his lovely coworkers helped me out.
And Christine nursed me back to “health” MacGyver style with a tissue and some scotch tape….
Sigh.

I would say that somebody has a case of the Mondays, but it’s only Wednesday….
I’m sure I’ll think this is funny sometime later today.

My (Not So) Secret....

I found this post card at Post Secret (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/)
...it pretty much sums up my morning.

Alas, the fantasy is richer than the reality.

Convention Registration: Day 1

So yeah... I've had the song from Beauty and the Beast stuck in my head for almost a week. I know! But we've been preparing for so long - and the delegates to the 10th International Bahá'í Convention are so lovely! (Dare I say cute????) But they are a delight to serve - so the song works!
