Masterpiece...

Victorian wedding party styled by BHLDN

I know. As per usual, the cart is very much before the horse... (my kingdom for a horse! ...too much?) That's never stopped a girl from day dreaming pretty things, right?

Because I think that a party - wedding or otherwise - populated with Downton Abbey-esque styles would be amazing! And super fun. By which I mean happy Friday!

As Promised: Seattle...!

Home of the best Salmon and Chips... of life!
Thai food out on the town: legit!
Dessert times: espresso float
Farmer's Market: Cauliflower!
[so damned cute!]
Lucky Strike Bowling alley with the bride & some random guy I don't know.
Why do I love bunny ears SO much?!
Because they are awesome.

My good friend Joanna and her husband Stephen hosted a North American reception in Seattle last weekend following their wedding in El Salvador.... Such good times!

On The New 'Oil on Canvas'...

By which I mean: pictures on blog. Too much? I blame the prospect of a long weekend.

So as you may know... I start my new job on Tuesday after the Labor Day holiday! In honor of my last pre-work (vacation?) weekend, my good friend Nilou - of Perfectly Made Weddings fame - and I took a little field trip to the Getty Museum in L.A. As evidenced below, it was a gorgeous day!
The foyer of the Getty. If/when you guys come visit me (ahem), we'll go.
Promise.
Party on the tram!
Ms. Nilou, herself!
Yo... overlooking el.ay.
Yes. I'm the champion of the self portrait universe.
Okay, so Rembrandt might have me there - but you know...
Imitation is the highest form of flattery?

April Revisited...

In April some very dear friends of mine :: Jean-Pierre and Bahiyyih :: got married here in Haifa. He's from France, she's from South Africa - such a lovely and international celebration! Anyhow, since I suck at taking pictures... better late than never?
Nava and I - up to our usual shenanigans, I'm sure.
Neda and I - just after the ceremony, if memory serves...
Cool and the gang...
aka Jubin, Nava, Will Y yo.

On a totally vain side note... I kind of miss the darker hair. What do you guys think? Keep it light, or back to dark? ...it's also cool if you don't care. It's not like the color of my hair will solve world hunger, or anything. As you were. [Insert sheepish grin - slash - wry wink here.]

Eye of the Storm...

Aimee & Gitty

Gitty and I took a quick photo break at our friends' wedding last month. As a sidenote... the sunlight in this picture is, like, perfect. I can't stop thinking how good our skin looks.

Yes... I'm a little bit vain - I get that. As you were.

Keep It Classy...

So... weekend wrap up. As you may recall, my friends Mona & Vahid were married on Friday - 1 January 2010! A new day, year, decade and life - all in one fell swoop! Congratulations M&V! Mae & Aimee
The wedding was amazing - perfectly simple and elegant - it really captured their whole relationship, I think. And the best part was how calm and collected they were. Naturally we all had an amazing time dancing the night away - the father of the groom has some serious dance moves. I'm talking skills, kids!
Oh! Also... at the guest book table was a mini-polaroid camera; by which I mean that it shot out miniature pictures, not that the camera was tiny. It is so cool! I totally want one!
Hope y'all had a great weekend, too!

All We Need Is...

Well kids, we're in the waning hours of 2009 - what has turned out to be a pretty good year. I won't bore you with end of year - or (gasp!) decade - best of/worst of lists... nor will I regale you what I plan to do in the coming year (or weeks or days - let's not kid ourselves).
Instead let's keep it simple.
Let's just try to love more this year.
Here's to Mona & Vahid starting the party right! Congratulations! (even if I'm day early...)

Headlines...

With follow-up coming soon(ish).
My brother-in-law is home from Iraq! Mer & John: I'm super happy for you!
My friend Joe married his sweetheart Erika this weekend - congratulations!
So yeah, I can't say for sure - but if I were them (I'm not... they're much cuter) I'd feel like this.
Alas... I forget where I found this lovely picture - if you recognize it, give me a holler so that I can properly credit. *Support the artist!*

A big shout out - and hearty congratulations - to Parham and Yasmine Lotfi!
*More on what I did to distract myself from the cold coming soon!

A Change is Gonna Come...

I know that with all of the positive and negative changes happening in the world - as we speak - it may seem trite to speak of this seemingly insignificant change looming on my horizon.... My flatmate Kalila is going home. For the very best of reasons - she's getting married y'all! - but that doesn't mean I'm not going to miss the heck out of her. So I suppose this is just a head's up. If and when I start waxing sentimental, you'll know why.

True story: brought to you by Le Love

Kalila and I: ladies night out

For Your Consideration...

So I've some exciting 'up and comings' in the life of aimee piper. My mom is coming to visit me soon (ahem. 1 month & 2 days!!!) and in February I'll be going to Europe for a friend's wedding and some general I've-never-been-here-before-sight seeing.
I've been saving up pictures I find that make me think of all the cool things I'll be seeing and doing - but I saw this one today and I thought it was so perfect. For a myriad reasons....
The artist's name is Christopher David Ryan. You should check his stuff.

A Light at the End...

The road is long, let’s do it together *they seemed to say*

Sometimes I can't help but make up little stories when I see certain pictures. Maybe not a full 1000 words, but some pictures are so eloquent - like they have perfectly captured a moment or expression - all with a little back story that runs through my mind.
Sharing is caring?

I Need Therapy...

So did any of you used to watch Friends back in the day? (Is it weird to think that there will be a day when people you're talking to won't know who Ross & Rachel are?) Anyhow, do you remember when Ross married the Brittish girl (sorry - I don't remember her name...), and Ross was having this melt down about how the girl had all of these elaborate plans, and he would have been happy with a JOP (Justice of the Peace) ceremony.... And how Monica had to step in and remind Ross to let her have her day because she's probably been planning it since she was a little girl?
Well, I kind of have a similar issue. I regularly put the cart before the horse - I call it Cart before the Horse Syndrome (CHS).
It's no surprise that I love looking at pretty things, right? Well, many of those pretty things just happen to be wedding related.... and I'm not even in like.
Yeah, it's like that.
Anyhow, I ran into this picture this week - and I think it's hilarious! I especially love the lady in the back with the hat - she's just along for the ride.

p.s. I think I could hear the collective sigh of relief all the way from OC.... Oh, hey Mom.

This Just In!

The happy couple & their first kiss...

Patience IS a Virtue!

The long awaited (and longer promised) pictures from Merilee & John's wedding!

Merilee & John ME!

Nana & I : We clean up okay, huh?

Sorry I took... I didn't really take many pictures while I was home, and I took none at the wedding (I know, I know!). These pictures are from Ms. Carol - thanks!
